Mentorías para mujeres STEM: una propuesta para reducir la brecha de género

El presente documento tiene como objetivos describir el contexto actual de las mujeres en STEM, discutir los principales factores que generan y sostienen la brecha de género y explorar sus efectos en mujeres estudiantes de posgrado de la Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL). Este artículo está motivado por la experiencia reciente de científicas consolidadas de la UANL, incluidas las autoras de este documento, quienes han sido certificadas como mentoras STEM por el British Council y ya han acompañado a mujeres STEM en formación de diversas instituciones de educación superior del país, a través del Programa de Mentorías en la Ciencia, coordinado por el British Council durante 2022 (British Council, 2022a). Finalmente, destacamos que las mentorías con perspectiva de género pueden ser de gran utilidad y beneficio para la formación integral de las estudiantes STEM en nuestra institución.
